Debt consolidation seems to be evolving as a potential option for consumers suffering with unsecured credit card debt. Over the past year I have been oberserving the debt settlement quite closely and it is hard to to define what is delivered for your cash. I really know there are quite a few debt settlement providers in the market that serve up terrific services and the clients honestly get great benefit, but I also know that there are tons of debt settlement providers on the web that are focused on collecting fees and signing up new clients. This is obviosly why we are seeing brand new government regulation surrounding the debt negotiation industry. My cousin worked with a debt consolidation service provider and is honestly very extremely content with the outcome.

When I made my first coaching class on credit scoring, one practice the instructor performed was to make us study credit reports and make lending determinations without a score. This led to “under lending” in most examples. Plus, it took longer so some applications were never registered. That led to more under lending. A credit score isn’t pure but it has made more lives greater and right or wrong…credit scores are a reality.

Your problem isn't where the debt is or how many checks you write or who to, its debt.

You need to pay off the debt, not put it in a different pile. Be cheap, work an extra shift and get it paid off.

Remember what it felt like to pay off the car? Wouldn't it be nice to have the same feeling about the credit cards? Cut them up and pay them off.

If you lost your car how would you get to work? Don't ever put up anything you can't afford to lose. That is why home equity loans aren't always a good idea. You could lose your home if you run your debt up again.

If you have good credit just search for a new credit card offer with a 0% or low APR and transfer the debt. Never put anything up for collateral if you don't have to. Good luck.

Most card companies have programs that can set you up on . they can drop your interest rate so your acount will amortize properly. This change came along with change in bankruptcy laws in nov of 05...another way is to rate shop on a balance transfer, you can transfer balances into promotional rates and save on intrest cards that have a high rate can all be consolidated onto one account...and then you only have one bill one rate it really helps good luck

depends on your credit. I actually would recommend it. you will have a better interest rate and it puts on a monthly payment plan. Once you get this cut your card up don't close them but cut them up so you do not use them, closing them could hurt you score. This way will help you credit score much, much more. Moving them on to other cards could harm. installment loans are better with credit scores.

Hi Cocoa,
Many companies will offer you money and rip you off, take as much from you as they can.
Possibly think that, Richard H, could advise you, but do not know this person!
So would take his advice, but with caution.
Regards Keith

Talk with a financial analyst/advisor/planner about the situation. They can take a look at your situation and give you a better answer.

I have found that many times, a debt consolidation loan is not always the best answer. Especially with a score that low.

If you are in the DFW/TX area, please email me and I would be more than happy to see what I can do.

Be wary of CCCS. Most credit counseling services I have heard about end up making your credit worse. The creditors still call you for the money while CCCS has a history of late payments. Have had 2 family members go through this.

I don't know much about First Choice Lending, but they're probably trying to drum up business for equity lines, so they're calling homeowners at random. If your mom needs a loan, she should go looking for the best one she can find--not just the one who called her. Lending Tree connects borrowers with lenders--they don't do the loans themselves.

If you have bad credit, you're not likely to find a loan that won't charge extra-high interest. If you're falling behind on your payments, I suggest calling Consumer Credit Counseling Service. They're reputable, non-profit, and nationwide. CCCS can help you get your finances under control without ripping you off. Links below.
